Thanks for the note. Yes H. Pylori rx's are flying out of the pharmacy. Most patients are getting Biaxin with either Prilosec or Prevacid. Helidac sales are sporadic at best. In any case, these medicines are EXPENSIVE and it makes sense that the MD should definitively diagnose H. Pylori before writing the Rx's. I wonder how many of them actually do. At some point I would expect HMO's to require a positive test before paying for the medicines.

I saw something in the APhA journal about the Ulcer Awareness week last month. I don't recall any of the details. There seem to be so many "special" weeks +/or months these days that the effect is not that great.

Finally, No I haven't seen any H.Pylori testing in retail pharmacies. However, this is the type of promotion that my bosses in the chain headquarters LOVE. I wrote an email to Quidel today for information on this program.

Good Luck with QDEL. It seems to me their products fill an important need.
