NEC to quadruple 128-megabit DRAM output in 2000
TOKYO, Sept 16 (Reuters) - NEC Corp said on Thursday it plans to quadruple production of 128-megabit random-access memories (DRAMs) to eight million chips per month by mid-2000 to meet booming demand for the state-of-the-art chips used in devices such as the new generation video game players.

NEC, a major Japanese maker of computers and semiconductors, also said it will halve by mid-2000 its output of 64-megabit DRAMs, its current main memory chip. It now makes 10 million such chips a month.
