How is the weather in NY?

We have sunny skies and 70 degrees! Floyd was a dud. It wasn't even close to 10% of what I have been through some 20 years ago in 1979. That storm was about half of the worst I have ever experienced (1977) in which more than 100k people were killed. Most deaths were due to a 30 feet+ tsunami that swept a river delta in my state.

Yes, I typed correct - it was 100k! The description of the scene by rescue workers were horrendous and are still vivid in my memory. A bad experience, ironically, has turned in to a memory to cherish. The experience also made me unafraid of hurricanes.

BTW, have you ever seen a 4' x 8' roofing sheet (metal) fly like a paper within a few feet of you? Have you seen a number of big football sized coconuts rolling on the road at around 20 mph? Have you ever been in a situation where you were blown away 6-7 feet by wind, get-up with bruises, get blown again and took 30 minutes to walk 1/2 a km?

I did! When I was 15. It wasn;t frightening when it actually happened - but thrilling. It was a very scary feeling the day after. Now, this many years later, the memory is more thrilling than scary! And I have saved it for my grand kids (not that I consider you as one! -g-)
