Consultants, hardware/software vendors and the press have overblown this Y2K thing to the point of absurdity. Most, if not all my corporate clients have been stress, compliance and acceptance testing the heck out of this issue and they have planned for this for 3-5 years now. Anyone remember some naysayers predicting doom and gloom on the date of 9/9/99?...well, that's come and gone with absolutely no hitches and while some lesser orgs may fall on their butts wrt Y2K, top tier orgs will be fine. While I agree that the masses may think the sky is falling here, we will rally and rally hard the day these folks wake up and realize that the mushroom cloud they thought they were seeing was not really the end of the world!
