>> it is a confirming tool

But you have to admit that TA can be a dangerous tool in the hands of the unskilled or unscrupulous.

A business associate of mine has been a Q holder for 3 years, mainly by accident. When I found out last month, I updated him on Q's progress and urged him to add to his modest position, which he did.

On Tuesday, his broker called and urged him to sell; she knows nada about Q, but claimed the graph showed Q was very overextended, and spouted some pseudo technical analysis.

Come to think of it, this isn't about TA; it's about why brokers are the second largest cause of rotten returns. Imo, the first is diversification.

Have a charmed day,
uf

Concerning TA: I hope I'm not sounding too ignorant, but with a stock such as QCOM, I personally think TA is totally useless- in fact possibly harmful. Last month is a case in point. When QCOM approached 200 all the TA's were preaching "new high's/resistance broken" etc etc. When it hit the 150's, all the TA's were preaching "support broken" yada, yada, yada. Yeah, TA is fun and all,but concerning QCOM, it has a lousy track record. Darts anyone?
