Anything less than $1000 is cheap for a good digital camera. Beyond the numerous amateur applications are the real meat and potato applications - insurance claims, police evidence, driver licensing, trade/professional newsletters, small newspapers, and in effect anything where you need a recorded image immediately. I would also expect that the really good quality high end cameras (currently between $1,000 and $6,000) will be rapidly adopted by wedding photographers and found to be acceptable by their customers. Where lots of photos are made on an assignment (sports events, weddings), photographers will keep extra CF cards on hand, as well as external battery packs and/or lithium rechargeable batteries. At least for better quality cameras, we can expect to see additional aftermarket sales of CF. Art
