Dear Mephisto: Well, its not just the Justice Dept. It seems to a laymen like myself the computer paradyme (sp?) is shifting. If that is so that is a major upheaval IMHO to their basic business. When there is a major shift to a companies basic product rarely do they do as well as before and often disaster strikes. ie BUGGY WHIPS, HORSE DRAWN CARRAIGES, even simple things like shaving cream companies. This shift may not yet be evident to the masses or if it is they may feel MSFT will change and adapt. To me thats an additional risk not priced into the stock at this point. To make matters worse MSFT does not in my judgement even have a reputation for a quality product, plus its generally considered a rogue company that eats its young (ie partners), so there are many reasons in my judgement that it could be quite difficult for MSFT to adapt. Were I Bill Gates, I would most certainly VASTLY diversify my holdings to the extent permitted by the SEC. If he in fact decides to do this that will be another constant flow of stock into the market. All these things spell potential problems to the shareholders IMHO. I do not own MSFT and have no desire to own them. Once it was a great shareholder opportunity but it will be very difficult if not impossible to repeat that again. The best thing I can think to say about them with my admittedly limited knowledge is that they do have a SUBSTANTIAL cash kitty with the ability still to generate huge cash flow. What they do with that money will determine their future. JDN

MEPHISTO,

First let me tell you how much I enjoy reading your posts.

Actualy, it does not matter what the Justice Dept. will do
with MSFT.
I think the breakup of MSFT will be a bonanza for the the
stock holders. They will then get shares in all the
new divisions of MSFT and just like the breakup of Telephone
the shareholders made out like bandits.

If you remember at the time Telephone was crying like crazy.
I thought it and I am still convinced that it was all an act not
to be broken up. It was the please don't throw me into the
briar patch. THE BREAKUP OF MSFT DOWN THE ROAD WOULD BE A
BONANZA FOR THEM AND THEY KNOW IT.!!!!

MARVIN

PS
I hope you are to young to remember the AT@T break up.
