Kapkan - RE: ""There's practically no business on Intel 600Mhz at present -- all our customers are going to Athlon 600/650."

And an insider at Dixons' subsidiary, PC World, said that its Athlon machines were also outselling Intel's 600MHz Pentiums."

But almost no one is selling the 650 at Pricewatch. That MUST mean AMD isn't producing many, or the number ou there can probably be counted using your hand, right???

The noose tightens. (TM Jim)

Re <<Athlon price cuts confirmed for 4 October>>

Early october was the target from 4 months ago for the first high volume shipment of K7's. I think I have the link book marked but my home computer is out of order for now, I try to post over the weekend if I get my computer up. The recent price cuts should mean that manufacturing is in order and as scheduled.

If this had come from a reputable source, it would cause AMD to jump 20%. Since it comes from the Register..., well it made me smile. :)

Also the continued increase availability of MB is also encouraging. On Tuesday I saw some advertisments on San Diego union Tribune for the Ahlon, MB and the full systems. Price was IDENTICAL to PIII systems. Most of the small shops in San Diego seem to carry the Athlon now.

Hoping to see another OEM, tier one design win within the next two weeks.
