After talking to many effected QCOM'ers, a new theory has arisen. Motorola is now 3 or 4th on the list and Siemens and Philips have risen to the top. Why? QCOM does not want to take a chance and sell to MOT or NOK and risk losing 10 to 12 million ASIC sales per year.
Siemens and Philips want on outlet to the US market and with the purchase they will get 17% of it. Talk is Siemens over Philips because of the VSLI ASIC shutdown affair.
Many insiders are hoping it is not a Korean company because they know their jobs in SD will be done. With Siemens and Philips they might still be employed in sunny SD......
