Dan,

If you're a "bigger" player, i.e. trade in/out over 1-2K regularly, I can see the use of INCA and SelectNet. The low liquidity of the also-ran ECNs makes them worthless, unless you happen to tap them on a Cyber Limit order.

Frankly, it makes much more sense for them to all get together and provide a common book or they'll find NASDAQ putting them out of business some day.

If it wasn't for ISLD none of us would be doing things the way we are these days. But they're just the start of things, not the answer. Hopefully this transition will be over in the next 2-3 years.
