sepku - I don't know how much you rely on Norton but I would suggest you try removing it. It not only hogs a lot of resources as it runs in the background but it may also make changes to your system to suit itself which can cause problems with other applications. I installed Norton System Works and kept getting these periodic warnings of changes being made in the registry etc. I found out that the changes were probably being made by Norton itself. Computer even runs faster after I removed it. It's a good application but just does'nt seem to be totally compatible with Windows.

One more thing. My last computer I put Norton on also gave me a major headache. It is a resource hog. Did you start experiencing these problems shortly after installing it? If yes then dump it.

edit: disregard. just read your last post. Norton Utilities is the program that gave me the headaches.
