While 2.5 million is nothing for a company the size of Molex, there is no way they make that investment without thorough dd. Public corporations aren't in the habit of making impulse purchases.
My guess is that they valued the company at much more than 10 million, and that is why they made the investment. Like everyone else they are looking to make money on their investment.

"And, often, smart technical people without any stock market savvy often get involved with scummy companies, companies eager to have people think exactly what you did, that their presence somehow means the employer is blessing the company, when that is most often not the case."

What are you trying to say here. Is the tech guy from CSCO being duped on the technology or is he "in" with the scummy company out to take investors for a ride. Though you may be right in that CSCO is not "blessing" LUMM, I really don't think he would be associated unless he thought that there was some promise to their technology.

Like any bb stock, this is an extremely risky investment. However the potential appears to be quite large. The involvement of a major company adds to the comfort level. What I don't understand are your inferences that this company is somehow shady. There just is nothing concrete that supports that.
