Intel Invests In Trillium

Electronic Buyers' News
Intel announced Thursday that it has invested in Trillium Digital Systems, the first company to receive capital throughthe communications fund Intel unveiled earlier this month.

The investment was part of a private round of financing for Trillium, based in Los Angeles. Although Intel did not divulge the amount of financing, the company previously said its $200 million communications fund is designed to make minority investments of typically less than $10 million.

Trillium will port communications software for use with selected Intel embedded microprocessors, including x86, StrongARM, and the recently unveiled Intel Exchange Architecture. The companies said they hope to reduce time-to-market in embedded designs by combining Trillium's software with Intel's silicon.

"Trillium's award-winning line of communications-protocol software solutions, optimized for the IX Architecture and Intel's embedded IA processors, will make a strong combination," said Jeff Lawrence, president and CEO of Trillium Digital Systems, in a statement.

Prognosticator,

Did you learn the following from the seminar?

What is the smallest ROM size for embedded Java? What is the minimum run time memory for JVM? And what is the minimum MIPS for acceptable performance?

Thanks,

Khan
