Michael, in one of my early posts I said that I worry about the hate crimes and my wife worries about the diseases. Gives us a 2 prong attack. So my thrust is to try to convince people that gays are just people too and they do not deserve to be discriminated against in any way. However we do also address the AIDS problem. We donate food to a charity called HIVCO which distributes the food to AIDS patients. The cost of medicine is very high for these people so HIVCO helps out by supplying food. A week from Sunday my wife and I are going to participate in the Chicago AIDS walk. This will be our fourth AIDS walk. This walk raises money for AIDS research. At the monthly PFLAG meetings we are usually helping new people that have just found out their son or daughter is gay. We get new parents every month. The focus there is to help these people get through the initial trauma of finding out they have a gay child. And we educate and remind our kids to have safe sex. If you want to see one embarrassed gay you should see my son when his mother hands him a box of rubbers!!! Erase fear - wish I could but I do not see that happening in my life time. But I like the idea. Dennis
