RE: <All I care about, as an investor, is which product is going to prevail. If an inferior product wins out because it has bigger, stronger friends, so be it. I will buy the stock of that company rather than that of the company with better technology. Obviously, the company which wins, for whatever reason, generates profits for investors.>

Now you're talking! You're absolutely right, results are all that matters. I am uncertain that this time which way rmbs will go. Maybe off to the moon and I hope I'm long when it takes off. But it is risky. I'm out of it at this time because I believe that it could blow up during this fall period when Rdrams pretty much have to stop talking and start walking the walk. I also think that it is being supported by a big bubble of hype that can collapse awfully fast if it does pop.

I don't know why I bother making these all these posts and reading all these posts. What a waste of time! I'm sure that the longs wish that me, and Dan3, and Bilow, and a few others would just go away so they could just cheer each other on without any contradiction. I'm going to bed.

Pomp - great post! My feelings exactly! I really don't care whether Rambus succeeds or not - all I really care about is that my investment succeeds. Currently I am very long on RMBS because I believe it will succeed wonderfully. If that feeling changes I will be out of my position. Shorting RMBS could not happen by me without a clear statement from Intel saying "we will support everything, Rambus won't work, we made a really big mistake here." Something along those lines. Lacking that, I think the chance of failure is rather remote.
