<<I'm hoping FDX weakness hurts the IPO pricing as I want many shares - I strongly feel UPS will grow exponentially with the Inets being the physical delivery system of choice, then again I could be full of chidt.>>

gladman I think you may be right but for many years, ups has been delivering oders people made to catalog companies via 800 tel numbers. Aren't some ecommerce purchases the same purchases that would have been made on the phone, only now people use the net? So aren't some of the ecommerce deliveries cannabalized from the 1-800 catalog channel?

I strongly feel UPS will grow exponentially with the Inets being the physical delivery system of choice,

You know, I don't think so unless they change their pricing structure. It used to be ups was the transport of choice for all the small businesses, they offer a ground service, far more economical vs. fedex, airborne etc. but their strength lies in the regional deliveries they do. I think UPS penetration of statewide deliveries is much higher than natl deliveries, for example. Internet companies are for the most part national (or international) from day one.

Of course this is all respective to the current UPS business model. Right now, today I can't think of any major internet retailer that uses ups. But, they have a great infrastructure and if its only pricing that can be fixed. But right now, UPS is sitting in a no-mans land between the cheapest (USPS) and the most fully functional (Fedex and air carriers).
