Yeah right Ron, and LSI has been a terrible stock to hold this past year--at least compared to these performers:

techstocks.com

I mean here we have LSI returning a pidly 260 percent for the year, while these stars are returning up to and over 600 percent.

Obviously this list is taken from the very best performers for '99. It is comprised of the approximately 8000 stocks that IBD tracks, which prices are above 12.

For the year, LSI is approximately 20th on the list of 8000 stocks--not too shabby a performance.

LOL....very funny Ron.

But, seriously, I think this type of "buy" recommendation actually hurts the stock (at least temporarily). A stock trading a 60 just doesn't look attractive with a 12 month 70 price target, especially in the tech sector.

I think it basically "freezes" the stock at current levels. So what happens when it hits the high 60's? Everyone head for the exit in anticipation of a downgrade based on "valuation"?

This isn't the first buy rec I've seen with LSI having such a low 12 month target so I'm beginning to conclude it has to do with the type of guidance the analysts are getting from the company. If so, it could be interpreted that the earnings growth may be stalling here. What do you think?
