What an incredible two posts, Tek. You have really made my week one to remember! I can assure you that all of us who have been her since the start really enjoyed your posts and look forward to having you on the thread. By the way, if you would care to give us more details in your profile about yourself, I am sure we would all appreciate it. (This goes for the rest of you who are hiding, also!) :0)

You are right. The excitement of find and investing in Q has topped anything that I think any of us have ever been involved in, in the Market.

For myself, April 21st will always stand out as the day of vindication.

Q closed at 142 3/4 on April 20th.

. The best quarterly report I have ever read came out after the market closed.

Q opened April 21st at 167 3/4, and closed at 192 3/4, up 50 points. An incredible 30.2% increase for the day.

I have always maintained that the purpose of life is achievement. One of the achievements I am very proud of is finding and investing in top companies. The achievement of doing this is the real satisfaction. The money I have made is simply how I keep score.

>> I try to show her how the performance of my (little) account is blowing away the performance of her (larger, index-heavy) account, but she just fumes and says she doesn't want to hear about it until I have a multi-year track record of outperformance to prove her wrong.

I don't think it will take too long at this rate, tekboy. Get her to start reading the thread, and maybe she'll try a little Q herself; Aunt Nancy did.

I think you have become the rabbit's foot for this thread. Hang around a while and make us some money <g>.

tekboy,

Now you're vying for an award!

It was great fun--riveting, really, to watch the sighting of a gorilla in the mist in real time...

I can't tell you how much that warms my thumpin' heart. That's exactly the excitement I felt at the time and still do. Considering the difficulty in spotting some fairly precise benchmarks when it comes to product adoption, being there and seeing all that stuff about Qualcom as it happened (happens) is almost as rewarding as seeing the value of my portfolio go up.

Almost.

Not quite. :)

tekboy,

I've shown his best posts ...

Whew! Thanks for not showing the worst ones. :)

If any of those friends of yours are in the Washington DC area and are interested in contributing to a carpet salesperson becoming an ex-carpet salesperson, let's talk. :)

Anybody who can wade through all the posts on this thread is blessed with an abundance of perserverance and has a high boredom tolerance.Though this is one of the highest class threads on SI, it's still hard to find the pearls in the chaff, Some of the wiser participants actually do their more detailed work on other threads.
THe time to buy CTXS was last Spring, it's doubled since then. As a pre -gorilla several thread members are in it. IMHO, CTXS offers something valuable to consumers, and it has a fantastic growth and profitability rates. The posts on the CTXS threads are mostly high quality and explain a lot about the company.
