Re: Newbridge's ADSL/SDSL Success in Europe" The bulk of the market of Remote Stages have proprietary interfaces to the switch that can be provided only by the switch vendor." elmatador, While listening in on Newbridge's (sym:NN) warnings/excuses Q2 conference call, I picked up a bit of information of interest to Last Mile investors. Since you know quite a bit about the Last Mile in Europe I thought I would run their comments by you to see if they are valid. Of all the things said, I thought this was the most honest, accurate, and of the most significance. Basically Terrance Matthews (NN's CEO) said that NN has sort of stumbled into the right place with their ADSL/SDSL next generation line cards for the European market. I'm pretty certain this is accurate and could go back and find my notes on it. But if I'm not mistaken, their flagship ATM switching product line, Mainstreet Express has the LARGEST installed base, of any switching vendors, in Europe. So apparently they are selling a lot of their Next Generation line cards into this installed base. Now if I'm reading your quote above correctly, Newbridge is in a very good position. Newbridge has a very good lock on carrier spending as carriers deploy DSL to their customers. Would you guess this is fairly accurate? Also, in my general reading/listening, DSL spending appears to be ramping up RAPIDLY in Europe in the past six months. Would you say this is accurate also? BTW, NN say's they are up 40% in Europe and I'm speculating it has a LOT to do with exclusively the DSL line cards. Thanks, MikeM(From Florida) PS Strictly in the FWIW category, if the above is somewhat accurate, NN may not be a bad idea as a contrarian play. But it's risky.
