as for protection, go buy a gun and get a permit, take some lessons and learn how to shoot. The world is crazy. IMHO, that is exactly part of the reason this world is crazy. Too many people think guns are the "answer" to solving problems. Very sad. [edit: now I see you have edited out that comment in your post.]
