Re B2B e-commerce, I think that Goldman article is right on. Recently, while at a 2 day Oracle sales presentation, I learned of a product called TPN Register which was presented as part of the Oracle Sales agenda. This product seems to be already well positioned to be a player in the B2B sector. This product can be configured with links into Oracle's ERP (purchasing & AP systems). This company provides a sort of virtual product catalogue assembled from many major suppliers. Owned by GE Information Services and Thomas Publishing; this might point to some good long-term investments (?) Any opinions on this or any other B2B play? Below I've pasted some info on TPN Register. ABOUT TPN REGISTER TPN Register operates a revolutionary global marketplace that uses the Internet to link buyers and sellers of indirect and MRO products and services. This marketplace provides robust contract and catalog management services that deliver accurate and searchable catalog content containing private pricing and contract terms -- effectively everything buyers and sellers need to purchase electronically. Many large multinational companies including General Electric, Boeing, Saudi Aramco, Federal Mogul, 3M, Harley Davidson, Inc., and the University of Pennsylvania participate as buyers in the TPN Marketplace. A broad base of suppliers including VWR Scientific, Snap-on Tools, Bosie Cascade, and GE Supply, also conduct business within the marketplace.
