William - thanks for your message. I have to wonder if you are long Ebay. As I mentioned, I am short, and I therefore have a bias.

The only way in that this represents a consortium is that a group of companies are agreeing on technical standards for sharing auction data. The technology field is full of standards - and there are many cases where standards have allowed markets be more competitive and grow through such competition.

Do you see it being a consortium in other terms?

Gangup stuff... consortium stuff related to auctions? Can someone explain to me really simply what this is about? I suspect a bunch of people going after ebay's dominance?

I agree with whoever said that consortiums never, never work.
