Ellen, I really don't know what to recommend. I installed the complete Norton System Works. It had to put itself in the drivers seat, so to speak, in order to do what it was designed to do, which was monitor my OS. Norton itself warns that some of the changes NSW alerts you to, could be made by NSW. I found it was kind of a bells and whistles application I could live without. You might try installing only the parts you need, virus scan etc. Hope that helps fishweed
