William - the only way that this is a consortium is that a group of companies agree to a set of standards for sharing auction data. From what I understand, there's no commitment to market jointly nor for management work together.

It's synonymous to a group of database vendors agreeing on SQL as a standard language for querying databases. It all about data transfer.

Another aspect of the consortium to consider: I would think that they would be looking at the business to business auction market as well.
