Nate--As I recall some aspects of the theory of relativity allowed for time travel. Time distortions were possible near a fast rotating cylinder. There was a physicist in the 70's working on such a machine but I never heard the results.
Time is not a constant in the universe. The speed of light while at this point seems to be a universal speed limit can be approached. At say 98% of the speed of light you could in effect travel forward in time. While say 5 years of time has elapsed for you 50 years or more might elapse when you return to Earth. I don't know of any way to move back but this is not my field.

Nate, don't get too discouraged. There are a whole bunch of things that can not be scientificaly proved but they exist anyway. Sometimes science is over rated and too much dependency is placed on it.

I don't really have any feelings one way or the other about time travel but it would be a nice thing to have around. Just imagine how one could travel to the past and actually see what really happened at Waterloo,or Columbus landing on his first Carribean island,or at Bunker Hill(Breed's Hill),or at the Little Big Horn. At last,we could get the real picture rather than the somewhat skewed writings of historians.Anyway, there is no way it will happen,if ever, during my lifetime so all one can do is dream and speculate. It is an intriguing subject though.^^^TD
