Look around - we passed the moral hazard stage many moons ago. The interesting thing about Ashanti, is that it's outside the mining axis - North and South America and south africa. Don't think the Ghanian government ( the real owner ) won't figure out soon that they could walk away from the this whole hedging mess and be left with a 1.5 million ounce producer and a 12,000 man workforce. Let's see, at 600 that's a billion gross and maybe 500 million net. That goes pretty far in Accra. Of course, the NY banksters know this - the question is - can they get the papers signed before the Ghana wakes up?
