Why is it everyone's views on religion seems to stem from televangelists? Is everyone out there a TV addict or something?

Yes I do use my senses: To me 1+1=2. Period.No discussion. To me that's a fact Can I prove it to you? I don't know. To some people1+1=3 regardless of what you tell them. So I don't know it you are one of those. A more concrete example( for the mentally challenged on the thread ) would be that Democrats ( and many Republicans ) call 1.5trillion dollars of defaulted debt, " a balanced budget " and get away with it.
