free - freeserve went public on nasdaq and as of sept. 17 was $2.5 billion market cap with 1.32 million registered users, -- $1,800 per user --

valuing free isps - x-stream at 445,000 reported registered users that's a significant base in my opinion, especially for the u.k. market

i would place a minimum value of $50 per registered user, which in x-stream's (OTC BB:XSNI.OB)case could imply a $22 million valuation

this looks low compared to freeserve's market cap, which has been falling however

overall i would value a free isp at the same level as a paid isp

my threshold on the 'fair' value of a generic free isp would be $250 per user until enough ecommerce and ad revenue shows up for them
