SOME NEWS AT LAST !!!
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3,
1999--InnovaCom
Inc., (OTC BB:MPEG.O) will debut its new four-channel, MPEG
Distance
Learning Terminal at this year's TeleCon West show, Nov. 3-5, at the
Anaheim Convention Center, Booth 1646.
InnovaCom's demonstration features four new TransPEG(TM)
Distance
Learning Terminals (TDLT) is an operating ATM network --
showcasing
transmission and control of multi-channel, high-quality video for
distance learning and teleconferencing networks.
Based on new generation MPEG encoding and networking
technologies, the feature-rich TDLT, which is available now,
establishes a new price-performance benchmark in video
teleconferencing.
As the distance learning and video conferencing industries
continue to grow strong, InnovaCom is setting the pace with its new
TDLT.
For example, end users may selectively deliver video
presentations to several schools within one district via the desktop;
saving time, money and aggravation -- and in the short-term can pay
back the initial investment many times, according to Frank Alioto,
president and chief executive officer of InnovaCom.
A new strategic research report from Frost & Sullivan, U.S.
Distance Learning Markets, indicates that revenues from distance
learning systems and services more than doubled in the United States

from 1994 to 1997 and similar growth rates are forecast through
2004.
"InnovaCom's commitment to provide advanced networking solutions
to the government and educational markets reinforces its decision to
reconfigure the TransPEG product line to specifically address the
needs of the distance learning teleconferencing industries," concluded

Alioto.

TransPEG Distance Learning Terminal Highlights:

The TransPEG Distance Learning Terminal delivers leading edge
computing performance and boasts a powerful Pentium III CPU with a
Windows(TM) NT 4.0 operating system. The video, audio and
networking
capabilities included in the TDLT are equally impressive. Each
system
is network independent and operates on IP, ATM or both types of
networks.
The TDLT consists of two sections: transmit and receive. In the
TDLT transmit section, input video is pre-processed through a
broadcast quality time base corrector (TBC) that not only stabilizes
video timing, but also provides a frame store/synchronizer with
options for comb filtering and noise reduction.
An IBM-based MPEG encoder provides MPEG-1 or MPEG-2
encoding up
to 15 Mb/s with total control of frame formats, video and audio
compression rates. Users may also select other parameters for
optimal
latency reliability and video quality factors.
The TDLT receive section includes the industry's first four
channel MPEG decoder coupled with an integral 6-way video splitter
for
simultaneous display of up to six real-time video images on one
monitor. Input and output video formats can be composite NTSC, Pal
or
S-video. Encoder inputs can also be digital SDI, as well as digital or
analog (balanced or unbalanced) audio.
At TeleCon West the TDLT network format is Native ATM (AAL5) and
will be compliant with the emerging IM2 (Interactive MPEG-2) forum
guidelines for MPEG video in teleconferencing networks. The
InnovaCom
software suite for TDLT provides on- or off-site control of encoders
and decoders as well as connection control of local or central
unicasts, multicasts and broadcasts.
A ubiquitous "Administrator" program navigates the multimedia WAN
or LAN with conventional hierarchy tree views that "drill down" to the
device and sub-device level within a site or sites. The TDLT's modular

software architecture will also enable interfacing with scheduler and
room control software from leading teleconferencing suppliers.
InnovaCom Inc. is a Silicon Valley manufacturer of video
