Who knows why a 61 year old with health problems was an active trader? Sounds like greed was in play here when he bailed out of his mutual funds. But what struck me when I re-read the article at lunch was the following:

"The only way to make a lot of money quickly is to risk losing a lot," says John Markese, president of the American Association of Individual
Investors. "Their stories had all the earmarks of disaster."

I guess this guy from AAII is assuming that all traders are going for home runs and the big kill. I'm just trying to make a living and that doesn't require taking excessive risk and/or trading the most volatile stocks out there.

KM,

I have a 74 yr old student right now from Irving who is sharp as a whip. We both better watch when he starts to make his moves <g>.

I worry when I get a sale from someone this age as my only two (yes only 2) refunds have been made to old folks who couldn't get the hang of the course interface.
