The most interesting thing I learned is that the US was in an ongoing state of prosperity since the 1890s (and probably earlier but no records prior) due to the invention of all kinds of things... although there were recessions along the way, 1900 was a boom year... it was 30 years until the crash of 1929. So if history repeats itself we could be in for another 30 years of prosperity, unlike the doom and gloom crowd on the bear threads will tell you.... :-)

Y1k was 900 years earlier than 1899. It happened when the calendar turned over from 999 to 1000.

I think they were still using Roman numerals back then, so the entire issue never came up.

The only issue then was whether or not the Second Coming would happen then. Odd, but that doesn't seem to be an issue this time around.
