<< Well, I finally found something to agree with you about. >> That's why I hate the broad brush of labels. No one is a straight liberal or conservative or moderate. Each has a complex mixture of all three. For instance, I deplore that we don't have any standards anymore in this country. Our country took a new low when it allowed a recording called "Cop Killer". But, that involves another subject called censorship. << one has to wonder how much our crime rate would decline if drugs were legalized. >> Joycelyn Elders was fired as surgeons general partially for recommending that this country talk about this issue. I don't know how to do this without creating more harm than good, but I would welcome a national dialog on the legalization of drugs. << I'm well aware that many have suffered dearly from their addictions, and I'd never advocate the use of drugs... >> That begs the question: Why are so many millions of people drawn to drugs? Is it to ease pain? Is it just to feel good? Is it just to get high? Is it to escape from an unhappy life? The HELL WITH THEM, says our government. JAIL THEM!! Your comment about never advocating the use of drugs is interesting. Most feel that if you advocate the legalization of drugs, you advocate the use of drugs. But, I agree with your statement. Perhaps we could make drugs non addictive? I'll bet that with a fraction of the money wasted on the War on Drugs, we could make non addictive drugs. People not "hooked" on drugs could find it easier to say no. The HELL WITH THEM, says our government. JAIL THEM!! << But, IMHO, the government will never decriminalize drugs of it's own volition. There's just too much money and power involved... >> I agree. I shudder when I think of all of the billions that are going into the pockets of some of the most evil men in the world. The drug lords are able to buy influence and control over entire countries, including parts of the U.S. This really scares me. << It's also another example of your idol, Bill Clinton, acting the hypocrite. >> Lately, the Clintons have been getting on my wrong side. I disagree with his freeing of the Puerto Rican terrorists, Hillary's activities in New York, and Clinton's ramming of an unfair peace agreement down Israel's throat. I still would support him, though, unless I was given a better choice. Hey guy. I enjoyed reading your note for a change. I didn't address all of it because it is late, I am too tired, and there was too much substance in it. Regards, Bob
