Re: "AMD caught those long before more than a handful had made it to market. If you want to discuss ancient history, how about the FDIV error that the Pentium had? "

Dan, this is really dumb trying to compare Athlon system crashes to the FDIV bug. The FDIV bug caused the average user would encounter an incorrect result from a FP operation once every 25,000 years.

DannyDenial - Re: "it was the victims (customers of Intel) who were getting wrong answers from their machines and started complaining."

One and ONLY one person outside of Intel found the problem.

Once he uncovered the problem, others knew where to look for it.

But Dr. Nicely was the ONE AND ONLY independent guy to stumble across the FDIV problem.

The Pentium divided quite well - except for one peculiar set of operands that resulted in an error at the 8'th significant digits.

I guess you think its better to have a system not boot - or simply CRASH.

That's find with us - when do you get your ATHLATE system ?

Danny Boy- Re: "Maybe it's time you gave the motherboard thing a rest"

Sure, just point us to a source of good, stable motherboards for sale, either alone or in a system. You can ignore the lack of infrastructure if you want, but reality will surprise the fanatic followers when Athlon revenue is reported.

Demo systems are nice, but system sales to end users are needed to generate revenue for AMD.
