You are referring to Dawkin's theory of memes, which he states as analgous to genes in physical biology. The theory is relatively new (maybe 25 years) and was not developed for another several. There is much testing yet to do before it can be accepted as widely as Darwin's theory (Which was developed for many years before he published and has had a century of testing since).

I'm gonna lose you here, Tunica ... but everything these fellows say rings true to me. I can't Proveit. They can't Proveit.
But what is more distasteful about their impassioned opinions than, say, some pastor's shouted sermon about fire and brimstone?

The only thing we agree on (I think) is that ONE of those two preachers is doing a grave disservice. We disagree about which one ... and I am prepared to honor your opinion. All I ask is that you not repeat your attempt to evangelize me. I don't think we can ask for much more in a society that thrives on diversity of opinion.

And I maintain that religious beliefs ( be they Catholic or Maoist or New Age or Stellar Ash) are all opinions - no less and no more.
