Sep. 17, 1999 (Network Computing - CMP via COMTEX) -- Improved.
Cabletron Systems is offering a new set of features for its
Smart-Switch 6500 ATM switch to bring it up to par with competing
solutions from other ATM heavyweights. Since Network Computing's tests
of the SmartSwitch 6500 earlier this year (see www.networkcomputing.
com/1001/1001f2.html), Cabletron has added support for LANE 2.0 fault
tolerance and resiliency, soft PVCs, and a four-port T1/E1 dual-mode
circuit emulation/cell transfer interface. The new features
significantly improve the fault tolerance of LAN-based ATM networks.
They also simplify configuration of multiservice (voice, video and
data) networks.

Available: Now.
Included with SmartSwitch 6500.
