That was a thoughtful argument - thanks for posting link. For about the same reasons that are mentioned in the article I thought PS-II was going to be a serious threat to the home PC market (and PCOAC such as Timna) but execution problems at Sony may have changed that game a bit. Inspite of the delays though, it is pretty clear that today's PC is definitely not the right platform for homes - either Microsoft/Intel/AMD fix that problem or be prepared to lose a tom of market share.

I guess most people would have made the same choice as Intel did in 1995-6 (w.r.t. picking RDRAM). Planning multiple years out in this industry is fraught with perils. Looks like where they went wrong is the arrogance they have displayed in trying to jam the technology down peoples throats and not planning for backups.
