zsteve, thanks. There was a link to Rick Ackerman's interview with Dr. Kurt Richebacher explaining how the implementation of hedonic pricing overstates GDP and productivity. If someone has it please post. It was at gold-eagle.com perhaps it was another author and I am going even more crazy than I already am. Hedonic pricing is meant to capture the increased performance of computers at reduced price - a silly concept because companies report their profits in real dollars not hedonic prices used to compute chained GDP. Since GDP is overstated - productivity is overstated as well. For further discussion see Robert Gordon of Northwestern University study confirming what Richebacher has found econ.nwu.edu I wasn't able to call up this study this morning but i hope they will fix it.
