Volume issues.

Our Nationwide Club has 45 members and we have focused on the matter of Year 2000. Our concern is what investors will do as 1/1/00 approaches. Most members, and investors they know are at best cautious with many not putting in new $ until 1/2000. A good many have been moving out of equity funds and into money markets. Some are looking to get back in as early as mid Dec to as late as 2/2000. Most club members have been liqidating since June and the process continues but is accelerating.

Our group going to the sidelines has resulted in a lot fewer trades. Its hard to tell if the move to the sidelines is occuring in large numbers. However almost all that have responded said they are coming back to equities shortly. Perhaps the 1/2000 to 3/2000 time frame will eperience record volumes and an impressive rally. Thus NITE will benefit substantially.

We like NITE despite the carnage and it was one of the few stocks the club is buying. We were buyers on FRI. We think that if there is a frenzied selling this lart qtr. NITE will benefit and the more selling with $ moving to the sidelines the greater the rallyin in 2000 when everyone realizes the world did not end. NITE will benefit again.

We believe the fundamentals are strong and this selling is way overdone and our TA people tell us the downside risk is greatly outweighed by the upside potential.

Just a point of view. We do not believe Y2k will damage the US economy but we believe investors believe others believe it will.

+ potential growth of trading volumes over time

This has been occurring for years but I believe growth in volume may slow going forward. The very frequent online trading was somewhat a fad in my opinion. People will trade online but I suspect many have found that frequent trading is not as profitable as buying and holding.
