I'd give my neighbor's left nut to know what the philosophical/empirical consensus will be like one, then two centuries from now.

My you're awfully generous....

I sure would hate to hear that if I was your neighbor. <GGG>

Clean hair, you said..."Now it is Evolutionism (among others). (By
this I mean the belief that we are strictly meat come from mud, with no God involved.) It is worth considering that this
is a faith just as any of the theisms is."

Excellent. It IS a faith based in logic, as is my simple belief in a he/she/it/?? creator, IMHO. Once you realize that the possibilities in this realm preclude proof, you know why evolution is still(in the face of some chagrin) called "theory," and you move on. Many people believe many things are fact, with or without adequate evidence in the minds of others. It's our nature at times to crawl out on these limbs. Only the centuries will tell of temporary consensus, indeed. As Evolution theory evolves and becomes even more certain in its particulars(assuming that will be the case), belief in god will remain and live on backed by much intuitive circumstantial evidence. Just ask Einstein. <g>

If natural selection is a faith then I want my Tax break!!!

If you bother the check the actual source of what Darwin said, or Gould & Eldgridge, or Dawkins, or everyones favorite Carl Sagan you would see that Natural Selection does not require guidance from an all superior something or other, but it doesn't say it couldn't be. Those theories allow that life on Earth could have been bred the way humans breed show dogs (after all humans use the same rules to get those cute little ears on the cocker spaniels).

It is the religous right who make the all or nothing arguments. It is they who say that one whiff of Darwin means that their religon is destroyed for all time. Why? First maybe they should give their own answer.

The closest I ever came to believing evolution was when I was in a store in a mall. A black couple came into the store. I was amazed when I saw the woman because she looked the closest to a gorilla that a human being ever did. It was soo strange I kept taking quick looks, but she must have been sensitive to that. She busted me and left. She probably got that a lot. Could that be proof that we did evolve or was that woman just pathetically ugly? She had the sloped face and flared nostrils, the jaw line, everything. I think she was just pathetically ugly myself. Or maybe one of her ancestors lived in the jungle for a while! lol.

Evolution is a well-established feature of current biology

I see it very clearly that there had to be a widely accepted theory of evolution in order to fulfill biblical prophecy of the end times. There had to be something for the people who reject God to believe in. That void had to be filled as the numbers who reject creation grew. I bet that sets your teeth on edge! lol.
