Kent, I've been tracking them for some time and receive updates from them. They have a really nice package that they send out complete with CD ROMS and all. There appears to be a lot of "FLUFF" but not followed up by action. I was first told that they were going public in August of this year. Then postponed for a couple of months. Now it's June of 2000. If you look at their investment package they employ many "marketing" type tactics. Looks like a lot of over head for a company not yet generating revenue. I was just dissapointed having waited for some that that they have not executed their business plan. That's where LUMM stands out!! Not only have they successfully completed their short term goals and objectives but in some cases ahead of schedule.

I must admit I was really impressed with the patents and applications of the technology. There were also some impressive names associated with them. However, they don't appear to really know what the plan is. I was also leery of the initial investors filing a litigation againts the company. I'm not an expert in the industry but it appears that their present technology would be a bit more expensive. LUMM utilizes the present infrastructure of photonic devices and basically replaces components with less cost but a more robust and flexible product. These are just my observations.

As noted on the RB board, George Gilder does not look at the technology alone but the management as well. I have been following LUMM and Nanovation for about the same lenght of time. LUMM a little bit longer. LUMM has surpassed NANOVATION when it comes to bringing their products to market. LUMM is way ahead and the lead is only getting longer.

Salud,
TD

<<Anyone heard of these people?>>

Not only heard of them, I've been following them for months, and have received two info packages from them, the recent one a financing offering at $50,000 minimum, 750,000 shares @ $10/share, Series D Aug.8/99 for U.S. and non-U.S. investors. A Series E offering is for $27.5 million, 2.2 million shares of Senior Convertible Preferred stock @ $12.50/share to Institutions and Strategic Partners.

Their intent is to issue an IPO in the spring of 2000, or after third quarter results in 2000.

I get the impression they don't quite know what to do and in which direction to go exactly. They have hired the Gartner Group and ElectronicCast to give them some clues!

They certainly do have an interesting technology in their Micro Cavity Technology, but it might just be a little too far ahead of its time. BWDIK! And their association with MIT is the best!

Cheers,

Don
