Sorry, Chaz! Didn't mean to jump to conclusions! I myself am monostockshual, but I try to be open minded. In fact, I've done some quick in-and-outs on NOK, and walked away from the experience quite pleased! However, I don't think I'd reside there on a more permanent basis as there's too much danger in missing one of the Q!'s radical upside marches. Unleashed from the coarse and heavy peasant's canvas of a cap-intensive royalty game at the baby prince's level, Q! can now parade in fine linens as a good SIMIAN should. Also agree with you re: JDSU--if yer gonna play royalty, go wit da King! However, NOK will remain an important player to watch over the years, and I have much respect for them. They may even develop some gorilla games at the apps level, but I dunno if that can happen if everything converges on an open standard (WAP). Of more than passing interest, though, is the pride-of-place potato-sack race of the 100BB+ princes known as DELL and NOK. After all, if NOK were to shoot up 50% in the next year and leave DELL in the dust (I can see it happening), why, Finland would have a greater market cap than Austin (ignoring, for the moment, the possible fluctuations in the fish-oil market and how that might change the outcome). I just don't know what I'd do if Austin falls behind. What's next, losing out to Lithuania? The 500,000 citizens of Austin would hang their heads in communal shame--worse than a loss by our UT football team.
In any case, an exciting period of time ahead! NOK has a real chance here to get into the CDMA game. A buyout of Q!'s handsets, coupled with an infra license and a new agreement to buy Q ASICs, would be some development! Maybe it won't happen, but the THREAT of it happening is a great bargaining tool in Q's dealing with MOT and others. It's all game theory--playing out before us in the flesh! JTOOMA
