OK, Michael, I've used the word "hate" myself recently too, when I said "thanks for the hategram" after truedog issued a proclamation that I cannot believe in god and be pro-choice at the same time. So we've watered down the meaning of the words hate and bashing. So what? In my prior life we routinely engaged in "Compaq bashing" and I'm damn proud of it! But if you want me to say that gay bashing was the wrong choice of words for my post, I will. Maybe "knocking gays" was more appropriate. The original point was that the anti-clinton crowd doesn't go to the evolution thread or the stock threads. They extrapolate what goes on in the far right political threads as applying to the SI universe, or for that matter the universe in general. Any brief perusal of the hot thread list on SI and the content thereof dispels their theories pretty abruptly.
