(I remember such a stock, it was TMAX, pointed out by John last year. It was cheap but even went cheaper in the very last December days. It only rose recently upon the pokemon fever).

Absolutely.

I would add one caution to that statement.

Mutual funds year end is generally October
31st, so they sell in October. I have made
the mistake of thinking the tax loss selling
was over, only to watch the same stocks
get hit by retail selling late in the year.

Now I see what you mean.

Interesting to see the October effect in EVOL (IPO which went sour, last year):

On the very last October day it hit its $1.5 low, and is only up since. And, it had a strong January buying, after a weak last Dec week.
