Does anyone know exactly when Etrade will start offering
after hours trading? I have got tonnes of messages/flyers
saying "later this month" but 2/3rd of the month is already
over.

Fred, you make a very good point. I have called E*Trade and tried to explain the same. I hope they listen to us and do it asap.
Being a platinum customer for nearly 5 years, my other must-do list for E*Trade is stop routing our (at least mine) stock orders to those suckers MWSE and HRZG. Those xxxx never fill more than 100 shares when the stock is trending in our direction. Looking at level II, one can say in 3 seconds where the order was routed to. I find NITE a lot better...

Happy trading,
DB

I think e*trade will follow Datek's lead. From the Datek site....

Until now, only professional traders and institutions could trade outside the official market hours of 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Time. Datek Online and the Island ECN offer individual investors access to both morning and evening extended-hours trading sessions. The morning session begins at 8:00 AM Eastern Time and ends when traditional market hours begin at 9:30 AM Eastern Time. The evening session begins after the traditional markets close at 4:00 PM Eastern Time and continues until 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
