(Nasdaq National Market: ZANY), a leading specialty retailer of high quality toys, games, books and multimedia products, today announced the grand opening celebration of its 100th new store on September 24th in Bridgewater, NJ. "The opening of our 100th store is truly a milestone accomplishment for Zany Brainy," stated Keith C. Spurgeon, Chairman and CEO of Zany Brainy, Inc. "Over the past two years, we have focused on rapidly growing our store base by identifying demographically favorable locations in both new and existing markets. Since 1997, we have increased our store base by more than 100% and we plan to open at least 25 new stores next year." In celebration of its 100th store, Zany Brainy has scheduled ten days of special events in each of its stores. The free festivities will include special guest character appearances, giveaways, bubble-blowing contests, raffles for 100-second shopping sprees, and one $10,000 U. S. Savings Bond give-away for use toward a college education, courtesy of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS). "Our 100th store opening provides us with a platform to reinforce our dedication to the development and education of children," continued Mr. Spurgeon.
