thanks Larry. I really don't want to get burned as i am still a proud holder of some still "red" CMGI.(I did average down quite nicely to compensate, however.) Didn't want to make the same mistake twice! Now I have a bit of a range to watch for.

Well, just to stir the pot a little, there seems to be some analysis missing between cmgi and icge, jmo. The business model for true b2b software has a pay-per-transaction design, or else its a situation like ariba where you pay for the software and install it. That is completely different from cmgi's portfolio of companies such as raging bull that have only an advertising revenue stream, if even that.

So its likely we'll see profitability from these companies pretty quickly. One thing that muddies the waters however is that the definition of b2b seems to mean that there is a business in there somewhere, wheareas the transaction fee companies are only software. So, if I had to guess offhand I would say servicesoft in the icge portfolio might approach profitability quickly whereas chemdex will not.

Anyway the profitability concerns of the internet space are put to rest somewhat with business software and thus icge might deserve a higher multiple than cmgi... jmo.
