An overabundance of serotonin will do nicely.

What a wonderful post!!!!! (you deserve five exclamation points).

Complete with song, even.

And what a wonderful sense of humor!!!!!

If I listed my favorite things, it would take almost forever, because I am a pushover. But really good pea soup is on the list. And lentil. And navy bean. And potato. And oh, on and on and on.

I can say, along with Goethe's Faust, when he was waiting for the Devil to take him in payment for his bargain, and he looked out over the world that he would be leaving behind,

"Verweile doch, du bist so schoen!"

(Oh, still delay, thou art so fair!!!!!!) (Six exclamation points for that one.

Or, to paraphrase Ovid,

"Currete, currete lente, noquis equi!

(Run slowly, slowly, you horses of the night!!!!!!)

The simple world of pea soup and beech leaves and sunrise and sunset and mountains and streams is beautiful enough for me, and I wish I never had to go.

Penni is right croc, wonderful post and inspiring thoughts. I thought it would be fun to make a list too.

My favorite little things...

- Eating cracker cereal
- Eating a peanut butter and butter sandwich
- Sitting on my porch with a hot cup of coffee on a cold rainy day.
- Riding really fast zooming over the ripples on my PWC.
- Standing at the rail of the ferry watching the parents, children and the natural scenes.
- Looking down while walking from my car to a store with both kids side by side in my hands.
- Sneaking up underwater on my kids in the pool and surprising them.
- Seeing their face gleam when I toss them in the air in the pool.
- Hearing my son repeat in detail the answer I just gave him to a question.
- Watching the kids play in the playground when they don't know I'm there.
- Watching my wife quietly nurse the baby.
- Seeing my mother really look at my kids and knowing her thoughts.
- Using a really good pen that writes effortlessly.

Iglies that bother me....

- Dishes that can't be washed in the dishwasher.
- Radio static destroying a song.
- Cars that drive in the left lane slow.
- People who talk endlessly.
- Being late.
- Bills with no envelope to pay.
- XXX email.

Michael
