A couple of years ago the museum near Neander hired one of the top forensic artists to determine the appearance of a neandertal skull. The artist was famose for adding clay "mussles" and "skin" to the skulls of murder victims and they were quickly identified by friends and kin. He chose to give the skeleton blond hair. The resulting "statue" would have not attracted undo notice on a city street.
