Alan,
Coincidentally, I have about the same cost basis ($3.90) for my shares of ampex as you (which I have slowly accumulated over the past four and a half years without selling any of them). I have accumulated 10's of thousands of ampex shares. I tried to structure my portfolio to minimize some of the variables. Hence I did not buy on margin, nor did I short this stock, and therefore variations in ampex's stock price does little more than cause me some aggravation. No margin calls or short covering to worry about.
The other portions of my portfolio include such stocks as GE, Intel, Microsoft..etc. I have done fairly well with those stocks also. And I did take some profits on some of those stocks. I guess I am a true long term investor.
Still long on and confident about Ampex!!
