Robert,

I detect absolutely no taste when I use Zicam. I even opened a full bottle and took a big whiff. It has a very slight, pleasing smell, completely unlike metal or medicine. You might want to buy a bottle to smell it yourself lol. The reason that you probably can't taste it is because most of your taste buds are on the tongue. Even though the nose is connected to the throat, most or all of the gel is absorbed right away, and there is no taste in the throat anyway.

I think it has no taste when sprayed in my nares.

If you want to taste it for grins, be my guest. Make sure to stay away from the other OTC meds in your house - preparation H, for example, especially if the tube has been used once or more.
